Gibson TV have launched the first volume on their new series highlighting the musical journey of heavy metal architect Tony Iommi. The renowned Black Sabbath guitarist’s life and legacy are explored in this series, ‘Tony Iommi: The Godfather Of Heavy Metal‘. In addition to words from the man himself, guest commentary from his peers and friends, including Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, ex-Ozzy Osbourne), Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), YUNGBLUD and more are also included.
Gibson said alongside the launch of the series:
‘From the birth of Black Sabbath to the creation of heavy metal itself, the journey all began with Tony Iommi.
Parents hated it. Their kids loved it. After the Summer of Love began to fade, an ominous new sound emerged from the smokestacks of Birmingham, England. Tony Iommi was the architect of that sound—the man responsible for the genre-defining riffs of Black Sabbath and a sound that would take over the world. More than just a new style of music, heavy metal became a way of life—connecting millions through a spirit of rebellion, passion, and a relentless sound that refuses to fade.
Gibson TV proudly presents Volume One in a new series, Tony Iommi: The Godfather of Heavy Metal, a deep dive into the life, legacy, and groundbreaking sound of Black Sabbath’s legendary guitarist.’
Iommi‘s long-awaited third solo album is expected to arrive later this year.
