Lauded multi-platinum alternative metal band Deftones have partnered with Los Jaguares, a young soccer squad who hail from the same Sacramento, CA neighborhood (Oak Park) the band spent their formative years. These new jerseys will serve as the official kit for the youngsters in their next season, with a portion of the proceeds from the limited capsule set to go towards the team. Two separate jerseys and a custom Deftones branded soccer ball are available now as part of this limited merch capsule via shopdeftones.com.
According to the band:
” Los Jaguares represent an underserved community in one of California’s lowest-income districts. For these athletes, soccer is a vital source of pride and community, as reflected in their rallying cry: “Who are we? Familia.” “
They further stated:
“When we heard about this group of kids growing up in our hometown in need of support, we jumped at the opportunity. Soccer and music are both about connection and expression, and having a strong community that nourishes this during developmental years is so important. We’re stoked to be able to give back and make a positive change in their lives, and our hope is to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams despite any odds.”
