If you’re curious as to what music potentially inspired Puscifer‘s forthcoming new album “Normal Isn’t” (out February 06th,) or just want to know what makes their vocalist Maynard James Keenan (also of Tool, A Perfect Circle) tick, read on.
The alternative rock outfit have been sharing the playlists of music that they listened to while working on their aforementioned upcoming fifth studio outing. Today’s (December 02nd) post found Keenan himself sharing his sonic excursions of choice.
While his Puscifer bandmates in Carina Round & Mat Mitchell kept their choices austere by comparison, Keenan instead served up a sprawling 80 song list. There’s plenty of familiar faces to be found in the list, from the industrial yearning of late 90s Nine Inch Nails, to the new wave sounds of Depeche Mode and the goth rock gloom of Bauhaus.
However, one recurring theme through Keenan‘s list is his predilection for 80s post-punk, which comprises the majority of his list. Without further preamble, here’s what was in his ears during the writing and recording sessions for Puscifer‘s next record:
