An Unauthorized Documentary On Wayne Static & Tera Wray Is In The Works

An unauthorized documentary focusing on the at times turbulent relationship between late Static-X, etc. frontman Wayne Static and his departed wife Tera Wray is being overseen by Matt Zane. The latter was a friend of the couple and is both directing and producing the film. He also previously worked behind the camera with Wayne on past music video projects.

Zane, like Wray, is a veteran of the adult film industry and has also long fronted the industrial metal band Society 1. Production on this film is expected to begin in January, with Zane planning to launch a crowdfunding campaign release around the same time. Zane said of his relationship with the deceased couple:

“Most people are unaware that I knew Wayne for about 14 years, and I actually knew his wife Tera before him. We were all close, and I worked on every project he did after leaving Static-X.”

According to Zane parts of the film started to come together prior to Wayne and Tera‘s respective deaths:

“I filmed bits and pieces over the years, but we needed a few solid weeks in the desert at their house to finish it — that was the plan. Unfortunately, funding fell through. I know this is something Wayne and Tera wanted to get done, and they wanted me to do it. I feel I owe them this — to tell their story the way they wanted it told.”

In addition to the doc, unreleased music created with Wayne Static is also apparently a part of the project and will be completed with the use of AI. Zane said of that:

“There’s about an EP’s worth of material Wayne and I recorded for a movie Tera was doing, but his label stepped in and stopped it. Some of those ideas ended up on Pighammer, but the rest has been sitting in my archives. I’m revisiting it now and will finish some of it with help from AI technology.”

Zane is also seeking those who knew the couple and want to share stories from the final seven years of their lives to contact him via everyonediesthemovie.com. Also of note, Zane‘s post announcing the project went on to state, ‘Please note: The families of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, as well as the original members of Static-X, are not involved in or endorsing the project.”

Wayne Static died in bed at the age of 48 on November 01st, 2014 as a result of a fatal concoction of pharmaceutical drugs and alcohol. Wray passed away in January of 2016, after taking her own life. Both had previously struggled with addiction and substance abuse issues.
