Philly shoegazers Nothing will be putting out their fifth studio album “A Short History Of Decay” on February 27th through Run For Cover Records. Guitarist/vocalist Cam Smith is the latest transplant to the band, known for his work in Ladder To God and Cloakroom. Of course, with a new album comes new music and the song “cannibal world” fulfills that expectation below. Ben Ditto took on the reins of directing that clip.

Frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo co-produced this effort alongside Nicholas Basset (Of Whirr) and found himself further addressing the various skeletons in his closet. Described by Palermo as “a final chapter” to that story that they began with “Guilty Of Everything“, Palmero faces many of the demons of his past and the worries of his future on this record.

One of those is the onset signs of essential tremors, a non-life threatening neurological disorder he suffers that has continued to manifest further with age. As Palmermo put it, “It’s another thing that just makes you think, ‘my body’s in a decline right now.’ Things are starting to fall apart.”

In addition to that, Palermo also tackles an abusive upbringing, reconciling past substance abuse and more. As he explained, “I’m writing about things that I’ve never really talked about before. Things I’ve always been scared to write about.”
