Failure Have Finished Recording Their Seventh Studio Album

The next sonic adventure from exalted space rockers Failure has been completed. Drummer Kelli Scott confirmed the news in the below newly published chat with ‘Waterproof Records With Jacob Givens‘. According to Scott, the band wrapped up work on that seventh studio album prior to this past June’s release of their documentary film, ‘Every Time You Lose Your Mind‘.

In addition to giving that feature its time in the spotlight, the group have also added some new team members to the business end of the band, and have been mapping out how they plan to release this next record. When asked by host Jacob Givens if Failure had any new music in the pipeline, Scott offered [transcribed by theprp.com]:

“We’re constantly working. Yes, there’s a new record. Not sure when or how it’s going to come out. Like it’s sitting around, you know? Clearly the film and getting it released and doing the premiere ourself — like Hulu didn’t help with that… The record’s been done. The record was done before that premiere.

And it’s just a matter of we have new management, we have a new agent and they collectively think that we should release this in a different way than we have been releasing our previous records, which is ourselves on Failure Records and you can only buy them through our website. Which is fine. I love that. It’s the first time like I think in all of our lives that penny one comes back to the band.

Like first we get to pay ourselves off for the money we spent to make those things. But then collectively like we actually make a little bit of money, and then we get to put away our own money to pay for the tours that we’re going to do on those records, and make videos or whatever. We’re self-funded at this point — by no means rich — but it I mean it’s a great feeling to not have to go to someone else and bargain away 85% of your value for the rest of your life.”

Pressed for when fans can expect to hear it, Scott added, “sometime between now and probably like early next year.”
