Now’s your chance to hear a third single from Canadian deathcore vets Despised Icon‘s seventh studio album, “Shadow Work“. The group have just put out their song “The Apparition“, two weeks ahead of that album’s forthcoming Halloween (October 31st) release. Simon Marchand took up directing the video that accompanies this cut. Lead guitarist Eric Jarrin commented:

We are really stoked to present this third single to all of you. ‘The Apparition‘ holds a special place in my heart as it is the last song I wrote for this record. With the help of Alex for the arrangements, I allowed myself to push the melodic envelope a bit further and came up with one of the most crushing breakdowns on the album.

This song also marks our first collaboration with Simon and Disjonctés Productions. Not only did he understand the very personal lyrics of ‘The Apparition,’ Simon found a very artistic way to translate it into images while encompassing the energy of the band performing. Thanks for watching.”

A number of guests have been tapped for “Shadow Work“, including Kublai Khan TX vocalist Matt Honeycutt on the already available “Over My Dead Body“. Tom Barber of Chelsea Grin and Scott Ian Lewis of Carnifex guest on the as-yet unreleased “Reaper“, while Misstiq lends her talents to another pending track, “In Memoriam“.

Outside of that, a gang vocal choir featuring members of Ion Dissonance, Beneath The Massacre and Scorching Tomb is also featured on the record. The group’s first headlining run on this new record will take place with support from Sanguisugabogg, Defeated Sanity and Corpse Pile:
