King Ultramega, the fledgling tribute collective paying tribute to the works of the late grunge legend Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple Of The Dog), have released a new cover of the Temple Of The Dog track “Say Hello 2 Heaven“. Mark Menghi of Metal Allegiance fame serves as the driving force behind this project, which has been raising funds for musicares.org.
On this latest release, Menghi is once again joined by Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera, etc.), while Richie Kotzen of Mr. Big, etc. fame guests on vocals and guitar. Originally penned as a tribute to the late Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, “Say Hello 2 Heaven” has taken on a personal meaning for Kotzen. He explained:
“I lost my sister to suicide in 2022, and that kind of loss changes how you experience certain songs. It’s not something I set out to bring into the session, but it showed up. That’s when it stopped feeling like just a tribute and became something more personal.”
