While Guns N’ Roses have a substantial stockpile of new music in the works, it would appear that the follow-up to 2008’s “Chinese Democracy” still remains up in the air. The hard rock titans’ aforementioned album notoriously took roughly 15 years to emerge, and even then, was finally ushered out after a series of high-profile leaks put intense pressure on the group.
In a new interview in the print edition of in the print edition of Guitar World, guitarist Slash addressed where the band are currently at with that record, offering:
“There’s so much material at this point — it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and fucking get into it. But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time , and we’re going to do this.’
Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart. It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, It’s off and running. So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”
Of course, anticipation for a potential new album from Guns N’ Roses remains a lot higher now than it did for “Chinese Democracy“. While the sessions for that album spanned a decade with various personnel involved, the band welcomed back key members in Slash and bassist/vocalist Duff McKagan back in 2016, with fans eager to see if they can recapture some of the magic of their early hits.
