Those attending last night’s (October 02nd) kickoff of Queens Of The Stone Age‘s ‘The Catacombs Tour‘ in Chicago, IL were treated to a number of setlist surprises. Among them: the live debut of a new track titled “Easy Street“. Fan-filmed footage of that can be viewed below.
There were numerous other highlights, including the live debut of a Them Crooked Vultures cover and various songs being dusted off for the first time in years, most notably the first performance of “Mosquito Song” since 2007. Of course, given the nature of the tour, the opening portion included a set styled after the stripped-down July 2024 performance the alternative rock band recorded at the Catacombs of Paris in Paris, France.
That unique Parisian performance was released earlier this year as the “Alive In The Catacombs” EP. It was mirrored onstage last night. The setlist for this opener at the The Chicago Theatre ran as follows:
“Running Joke” / “Paper Machete“
“Kalopsia“
“Villains of Circumstance“
““Suture Up Your Future”
“I Never Came”
“Someone’s In The Wolf” / “A Song For The Deaf” / “Straight Jacket Fitting” (“Someone’s In The Wolf” last played live since 2018)
“Mosquito Song” (first time since 2007)
“Keep Your Eyes Peeled“
“Spinning In Daffodils” (Them Crooked Vultures cover) (live debut
“You Got A Killer Scene There, Man…” (first time since 2007)
“Hideaway” (first time since 2018)
“The Vampyre Of Time And Memory“
“Auto Pilot“
“Easy Street” (live debut)
“Fortress” (first time since 2017)
“…Like Clockwork” (first time since 2018)
