Republican rap-rocker/country star Kid Rock has been ‘indefinitely suspended’ from performing in the state of California by the state’s governor, Gavin Newsom. That proclamation of sorts was made yesterday, September 19th, as part of Governor Newsom‘s ongoing efforts to parody his bitter political rival, U.S. President Donald J. Trump on social media.

Newsom‘s post on X (formerly Twitter) read:

“BECAUSE OF HIS HORRIFIC MUSIC, CALIFORNIA WILL INDEFINITELY SUSPEND KID ROCK FROM PERFORMING IN THE GOLDEN STATE. YOU’RE WELCOME! — GCN”

Newsom‘s comments are presumed to have been made in response to the current standoff between the FCC and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel‘s ABC show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live‘ show was indefinitely suspended earlier this week in response to Kimmel‘s commentary regarding the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

That suspension was handed down as ABC and their affiliates faced apparent pressure from the Federal Communications Commission. The situation has led to heated debate over first amendment concerns in the United States.

Kid Rock is a close ally and longtime friend and supporter of Trump, but does not appear to have publicly responded to Newsom‘s latest satirical post. Rock‘s support or Trump over the years has seen him perform at official Trump rally events and even consult on ticketing and price gouging legislation.

Newsom and Kid Rock have have sparred on social media prior, including the below exchange of posts that took place on X this past August:
