A new punk tribute album to Motörhead will meet a release on October 31st through BMG Recordings. That 14-song compilation has been titled “Killed By Deaf – A Punk Tribute To Motörhead“, and will feature covers from the likes of Rancid, Pennywise, The Bronx and more. A previously unreleased pairing that finds Motörhead and The Damned covering The Damned‘s “Neat, Neat, Neat” is first out the gate from the set and was recorded back in 2002.
A press release for this project notes that late Motörhead vocalist/bassist Lemmy Kilmister once mused, “The punks loved us. The only reason we weren’t in that lot was because we had long hair, so obviously we must be heavy metal. That was the thinking. But a lot of kids heard us without seeing a picture, so they thought we were a punk band.”
