Back in August of 2024, nü-metal/hard rock stars Papa Roach issued a new version of their suicide prevention and mental health awareness anthem, “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)“. While the original song was first released back in 2022, that updated take in 2024 found the band newly joined by multi-platinum country star Carrie Underwood. Together, they pledged to donate the royalties generated from the pairing towards the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
As it so happens, their gesture of good faith has likely raised a considerable sum for the aforementioned organization, having newly been certified gold in the United States by the RIAA. That certification was handed down today, September 10th, 2025.
*A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit. 150 streams of a song also equate to a track-equivalent unit.
