Tonight (September 07th) saw the 2026 ‘MTV Video Music Awards‘ handed out in an awards ceremony held at the UBS Arena in New York, NY. As part of the festivities, a collective of musicians was assembled to pay tribute to the late great heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.
The artists tapped for that performance included YUNGBLUD, who became a protégé of sorts for Ozzy and his wife Sharon in recent years, along with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith fame and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme. Adam Wakeman, himself an alumni of live shows with Ozzy OsbourneBlack Sabbath, was also present, among others.
Many of the musicians mentioned above took part in Ozzy‘s final live show, the all-star ‘Back To The Beginning‘ event that was held July 05th, 2025 in Birmingham, UK. Osbourne would sadly die from a heart attack roughly two weeks later on July 22nd.
The medley performed during tonight’s awards show consisted of three Ozzy staples in “Crazy Train“, “Changes” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home“. You can find footage of that from the official broadcast below. Meanwhile pop star Ariana Grande‘s reaction to performance from the audience has already begun to catch on.
