Congratulations are in order for Canadian alternative metal band Spiritbox, who have just landed their first-ever gold record in the United States. Their first single to cross that threshold is not so coincidentally also their biggest song to date, 2020’s “Circle With Me“.
That song appeared on the band’s debut studio album “Eternal Blue” and was released as the third single from it back in April of 2021. While the RIAA have yet to officially bestow the honor upon the group, their label Pale Chord confirmed on social media yesterday, August 18th, that the song has met the criteria for that certification.
Pale Chord stated of that:
“A fun story – ‘Hurt You‘ was going to be the first single off ‘Eternal Blue‘, we had a video set to go and the night before Mike called me and said ‘I think we need to shift to ‘Circle With Me‘. I could not disagree, also a very good song. So in 24 hours notice we shifted gears and the next day showed up and filmed ‘Circle With Me‘ instead. We are awaiting the official RIAA certification but CWM is now a Gold single. Trust your gut!”
A gold single in the United States signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit. 150 streams from accredited digital service providers account for one unit.
