Modern Life Is War‘s third new single from their first album in a dozen years is now available to stream. The latest cut to meet a release from the Iowan hardcore punk group is “Bloodsport“, which you can hear below. Vocalist Jeff Eaton chimed in on what he and his bandmates set out to achieve with this track, offering:

“The opening guitars ride on the dystopian Dead Kennedys‘ violent wave. At first I took my time, waited to come in and imagined the energy it might take for one voice to ignite the spark of a riot and crush the hateful opposition with a loving fury of art, kindness and community.

Violently only if necessary, and then decisively. I wrote this lyric the night before I tracked the final version in a fury with few revisions. I wanted to be as immediate and direct as possible, and hammer home a few simple points that I didn’t want to be lyrically coded about. Put me on the dissident list for 25 and 26, cause I’m against it.”

The band’s new album, “Life On The Moon“, has been earmarked for a September 05th release with Deathwish Inc. and Iodine Recordings jointly issuing the effort. In addition to welcoming this new album into the world this fall, the band also have some touring planned around the same timeframe, with select shows to find them marking 20 years of their sophomore album “Witness“.
