Silly Goose have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help with the legal costs associated with their vocalist Jackson Foster‘s recent arrest for playing an impromptu live show in a BP gas station parking lot. After performing at the annual ‘Lollapalooza‘ festival in Chicago, IL last weekend, the nü-metal revivalists decided to stage a makeshift show at the gas station after obtaining permission from the manager.
However, police eventually responded and arrested Foster for trespassing. After being released, the band returned to the lot across the street from the gas station the next day to hold an informal listening party for their upcoming album “Keys To The City“.
Staging guerilla performances in unconventional settings is a common occurrence for the band, who have also already performed in a Waffle House, a Cracker Barrel, a Buc-ee’s, a Subway, a McDonald’s, and a Chick-fil-A, among other questionable locales.
Foster said of his current legal situation and the campaign behind it:
“My name is Jackson Foster and I’m the vocalist of Silly Goose. On Thursday, July 31st we played Lollapalooza and it was legendary. Then on Saturday night after lollapalooza, we played a show on top of our van at the BP outside the festival to continue to raise awareness for our upcoming record “Keys To The City”. We had received permission from the manager and we had even done the same thing the previous year. He was going to let us play in front of gas pump 2 and 4 for one hour in exchange for $100.
All of a sudden the cops showed up and that didn’t seem to matter. Nobody got hurt, we were just playing music, and when the cops got there, we stopped playing. I got off of the van and was immediately put in handcuffs and brought to jail with little to no explanation. I spent the night in jail and received a criminal trespass charge. After speaking with my team, this is the amount of money we predict that we will need for legal fees and hiring an attorney. It is crucial we get this charge off of my record so that we can tour overseas in the future. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!”
You can kick in over at GoFundMe. Silly Goose have multiple proper tours lined up for the year and are preparing to release their new album “Keys To The City” on October 10th.
