Pioneering Canadian deathcore outfit Despised Icon have chosen “Shadow Work” as the title for their seventh studio album. This first new music in six years from the Montreal-based outfit, ‘explores themes of resilience and inner healing, drawing inspiration from the psychological process of confronting and integrating one’s darker aspects. It’s a deeply introspective record that reflects both personal growth and the turbulence of the world around us.’
Vocalist Alex Erian and guitarist Eric Jarrin co-produced the album, which was subsequently mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy‘s Christian Donaldson. Eliran Kantor took on the cover art. Several guests contributed to the effort, with Kublai Khan TX‘s Matt Honeycutt, Carnifex‘s Scott Ian Lewis, and Chelsea Grin/Darko vocalist Tom Barber all making cameos.
Nuclear Blast will be putting out the record on October 31st, with the band currently wrapping up the music video for the first single.
