Death To All will be out on the road this November for a run celebrating Death‘s “Spiritual Healing” and “Symbolic“. That outfit features several veterans of the aforementioned pioneering death metal band, including drummer Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, etc.), bassist Steve DiGorgio (Testament, etc.) and guitarist Bobby Koelble. Vocalist/guitarist Max Phelps (Exist, ex-Cynic) completes that roster.
With both of the aforementioned albums from the defunct Floridian death metallers hitting significant milestones this year, Hoglan and co. felt the time was right to jointly honor them live. He stated:
“The time has come to commemorate a couple of milestones in the Death catalog. 30 years of ‘Symbolic‘ and 35 years of ‘Spiritual Healing‘! Two vastly different yet very important eras of Death. Both albums are going to be a blast to represent.”
“Will ‘Spiritual Healing‘ and ‘Symbolic‘ be performed in their entirety like last year’s sold-out Scream of Perseverance tour? Well, everyone is going to have to catch these shows for themselves to see. Will it be an incredible night of unforgettable metal, honoring the great Chuck Schuldiner, as only Death To All can do? Of course it will. Death To All stands alone.”
If the prospect of seeing material from those two legendary records aired live wasn’t enough, the trek will also feature opening sets from Canadian technical death metal band Gorguts (who have a new album in the works) and North Dakotan death metal quartet Phobophilic. Gorguts vocalist/guitarist Luc Lemay added:
“It’s with great honor that we’ll be sharing the stage with these death metal monuments. Death had such an important influence on me as an artist. It’s the band that made me want to become a death metal musician. Chuck was my idol, my inspiration. See you on stage. Be prepared for an evening of classic death metal!”
