Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has taken to social media to clarify some misconceptions on how the band’s ‘Back To The Beginning‘ farewell show concluded this past Saturday, July 05th, in Birmingham, UK. That all-star event was held at Villa Park in the band’s hometown of Birmingham, UK and saw their original lineup take to the stage one last time.

Their frontman Ozzy Osbourne also staged his final live show at the event, with their respective performances being preceded by tributes from the likes of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool and many more.

It would seem that the millions who watched at home however weren’t presented with the full picture of how the show actually ended. Butler added some clarity on social media today, July 07th:

“I keep hearing that people watching the stream thought that our set ended abruptly…with us just walking off. Sorry if it seemed that way. I went off to get this cake for Ozzy. Cheers to the fan that captured the proper ending “

With over 5 million tuning in from home via PPV and over 40,000 in attendance, a portion of the proceeds from the momentous occasion for the heavy metal founders will go towards Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice. A charity auction around the event was also held.
