The annual ‘Pinkpop‘ festival in Landgraaf, Netherland has been rolling out a treasure trove of past live footage filmed during their decades-long run. Initial entries in this opening of their archives has seen professionally-filmed 90s sets from the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Faith No More, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein and more all land online.
Unveiled this morning (May 23rd) is an official upload of pro-shot footage of the closing 21 minutes of grunge legends Soundgarden‘s June 08th, 1992 set at the festival. Featured songs in the broadcast shared include the “Badmotorfinger” staples “Rusty Cage“, “Jesus Christ Pose“, and the non-single “Slaves & Bulldozers“. Footage of that set has previously circulated online, however this appears to mark its first official upload.
At the time of this concert, Soundgarden‘s ascent to mainstream success had just begun, with “Badmotorfinger” having gone gold in March of that year. According to the Pinkpop Archives channel, “This is the last part of the concert that was recorded by NTR. It is the last 21 minutes of the total concert of approx. 55 minutes that has survived.”
With rumblings of Soundgarden‘s final studio album seemingly getting back on track for a release, and the group’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction scheduled for November, this batch of footage arrives at a very fitting time.
