Renowned music agent Dave Shapiro perished in an airline accident this morning (May 22nd) in the Tierrasanta area of San Diego, CA. While an avid pilot, Shapiro also co-founded Sound Talent Group, who represent countless bands and artists. Shapiro oversaw Parkway Drive, I Prevail, Pierce The Veil and many more. Sound Talent Group confirmed his passing in a statement this morning, offering:
“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”
Adding to the tragedy, a former musician from the metalcore scene was aboard the plane, having posted about the flight on his Instagram stories during takeoff. With next of kin still being notified, the aforementioned company has asked the other victims not be named.
CBS8 report that the plane crashed into a residential neighborhood, with the impact affecting at least 15 homes and multiple vehicles. San Diego Fire-Rescue noted that multiple injuries were reported. All aboard the aircraft are said to have perished.
