As predicted last week, Sleep Token‘s fourth studio album “Even In Arcadia” has opened at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking their first album to do so. The masked British alternative metal band managed to pull off trifecta of #1 debuts with that record, having also opened at the top spot on the UK and Australian charts as well.
“Even In Arcadia” is group’s first album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and it racked up a whopping 127,000 album-equivalent units during its first week of release in the United States. As Billboard reveal, the band’s streaming numbers have set a new record, with the album becoming the largest streaming week ever for a hard rock album in the United States.
Of the impressive sum of units shifted, 73,500 were attributed to album sales, 47,000 of which were vinyl. That’s enough to also make it the largest vinyl sales week for a hard rock band since sales began being tracked back in 1991.
Interestingly, Sleep Token broke a vinyl sales record that was previously set just two weeks ago with Ghost‘s “Skeletá” selling 44,000 copies. Streaming-equivalent units of “Even In Arcadia” translated to 53,000 from some 68.89 million streams of songs from the album. The last hard rock album to debut higher than Sleep Token was thrash metal kings Metallica, with their 2023 album “72 Seasons“.
Charting their meteoric rise, Sleep Token‘s 2023 breakout album “Take Me Back To Eden” topped out at #16 on the Billboard 200, moving, 16,000 units during its opening week. The band are next set to conquer some big stages with the following live appearances booked:
