Bullet For My Valentine have issued a new statement regarding the premature end of ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour‘. As the band themselves commented last year, 2025 was expected to find them out celebrating 20 years of their gold-selling debut album “The Poison” on a joint co-headlining run with Trivium that would continue through to December.
The latter outfit had the 20th anniversary of their sophomore album “Ascendancy” to celebrate, so the pair threw in together to share stages across the globe on this trek. However, after completing a European/UK leg earlier in the year, the decision was made to forego those further plans just as the North American leg winds down.
Controversy over that change in scheduling erupted this past weekend, when Trivium bassist/vocalist Paolo Gregoletto aired out Bullet For My Valentine vocalist/guitarist Matt Tuck for scrapping any further legs of the tour. Gregoletto stated on social media:
“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think “The Poison” is a great album. I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together. But we are going to do North America on our own with other bands. And we will have a lot of special surprises, just because we will [now] have more time to do stuff, so, that’s what it is.”
When a fan later pointed out that it wasn’t “cool” to publicly “name drop” Tuck for the tour’s early demise, Trivium‘s official TikTok account directly replied, “He’s the sole decision maker of the band and he has no respect for us or our crew.”
While Trivium vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy took to clearing the air with this statement yesterday, May 12th, Bullet For My Valentine have newly issued the below statement of their own this afternoon:
“Hey guys, Bullet here
As we head into the final shows of The Poisoned Ascendancy tour, we want to thank everyone who’s come out to celebrate with us. The shows have been phenomenal and we’ve loved connecting with every single one of you.
Being in this band is the most important thing to the four of us. We’re incredibly grateful to have been given the chance to look back at a pair of life-changing albums for us & Trivium, who we have nothing but respect and admiration for. To have a career spanning over 20+ years is an incredible achievement, and we understand all the dedication and sacrifice that comes with that. The celebration of both these albums has been a career highlight for us, there’s 5 shows left out here in the US and then we embark upon a full month of summer festivals in June which we’re really looking forward to.
With that being said, the four of us collectively feel that the time is right for us to divert our full attention towards the next chapter of Bullet For Valentine. We can’t wait to get back in the studio later this summer and finish what we promise you is our best album to date. To go along with this, we are already starting to make plans for the 2026 & 2027 touring cycles, hitting every corner. We are super excited to drop new music for you all. We value our fans above all else and are forever grateful for your support. We’ll be back with all of you very soon.”
As Heafy mentioned yesterday, Trivium still hope to honor their previously indicated plans to tour South America and Australia on this 20th anniversary cycle, albeit now without Bullet For My Valentine. The final leg of ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour‘, which currently features August Burns Red and Bleed From Within as openers, runs as follows:
05/13 Corbin, KY – Corbin Arena
05/14 Atlanta, GA – Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre
05/17 Charlotte, NC – Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre
05/18 Raleigh, NC – Red Hat Amphitheater
