SPEED Have A New EP & Album In The Works

Despite maintaining an exceptionally busy schedule on the road, Australian hardcore band SPEED have plans for both a new EP and album in the works. In a recent interview with Brooklyn Vegan, vocalist Jem Siow laid out some of what the band have planned at the moment. According to him, the band will be back in the studio upon returning home this month following their show at this weekend’s ‘Coachella‘ festival. Here’s what he had to say [transcribed by theprp.com]:

“We’re gonna go back straight into the studio after we touch down after this week. We’re recording some stuff. We’re always kinda working on music. LP2 is on the horizon; There’s gonna be an EP in-between. But that’s the thing I’m actually most excited for at the moment.”

He went on to say, “I’m most excited… for the music that we’re writing at the moment.” When asked if the band are setting out to do anything different on this new material, he responded:

“I think that we’ve achieved… I mean I know this sounds generic, we’ve achieved so much more than we ever expected. And I think that’s one thing that SPEED can always vouch for. We’re not the best musicians — by far. We’re not the best songwriters. We’re not the most original artists by any stretch, and we don’t claim to be; We never ever really set out to be and we still aren’t.

However, one thing that we can always vouch for is the passion and the energy, and our personality. We’re just what you see is what you get… And now we’ve got a debut LP under our belts and a couple other records, we’re just trying to see if we can unlock a little bit more identity in our sound.”
