Watch Deftones' Chino Moreno Caution Autograph Hounds After Signing Over A Dozen Records On The Sidewalk

As seen in countless fan interactions over the years, Deftones, etc. vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno has been known to be gracious with his time and snap a pic with fans. However, it would appear his generosity was pushed to its limits recently while out enjoying some time off in public.

In what looked by no means to be a chance encounter, a group of fans descended upon the highly influential alternative metal star, each with stacks of vinyl to be autographed, some of which seemingly had previously been signed by other members of the band.

The chances of being stopped this many individuals, all armed with stacks of Deftones vinyl to be signed, clearly set off some alarm bells for Moreno, who became visibly annoyed after taking the time to sign over a dozen records. He went on caution the group of individuals:

“Go ahead and tell your friends I’m not doing this shit no more. You guys go online in your little groups and shit, tell people I’m not signing shit no more. I signed these right now, but let them know I’m not signing anything.”

When a fan then asked if he would sign “these last two for the road”, Moreno, who had already begun walking away at that point, looked back shook his head and left. Presumably Moreno‘s comments on not signing anything were meant to be in relation to that day.

Without the circumstances of his own personal timetable being known, Moreno understandably didn’t appreciate what appeared to be a coordinated attempt to have him hold an impromptu signing session while he was out trying to go about his business.

While it’s entirely understandable he would rather not later be stalked by further groups of fans approaching him with copies of records to sign as well that day, there’s also the suspicion of some of those individuals being resellers, aka ‘fans’ seeking autographs to flip for profit on the internet, to contend with.

As depicted in the video, only one of the fans approaching him audibly thanked him for his time during the signing. Curiously, none of the individuals in the video stopped to ask for a selfie or other expected fan behavior. You can watch the exchange play out at this location.
