This GoFundMe has been launched for the family and final expenses of Voraath drummer Joshua “Nassaru” Ward. The North Carolinian metal drummer was one of four victims in a fatal car crash that transpired on New Year’s Eve. Fox Carolina report that the incident took place as the four were backing out of a private driveway in an SUV. The collision is said to have engulfed the SUV in flames.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the fatal collision, 31-year-old Nicholas Meeks, was said to have subsequently crashed into a tree after colliding with the SUV and suffered minor injuries. Meeks has been arrested and charged with four counts of felony DUI resulting in death.
Meeks was also found to be driving under suspension at the time of the collision, having previously been convicted of a DUI in March of this year. Meeks was listed as being held in custody at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
The following was said of the the tragic incident via the aforementioned GoFundMe
“Our close friend and family member, Josh Ward, passed away last night in a traffic accident. Josh dedicated his life to the music he created, the martial arts he practiced and instilled into everyone who had the privilege of training with him, and last but not least his son, Kai.
We are all devastated by this loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give Josh the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.
I am currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Josh’s funeral. All donations would go to the memorial and funeral. All remaining will be gifted to his son, Kai.”
