Death western band SpiritWorld have released the first single from their upcoming new album. That track, “Western Stars & The Apocalypse“, lands online in tandem with an animated video done by Balázs Gróf (Rob Zombie, Testament).
The band’s founder/frontman Stu Folsom commented: “I wrote ‘Western Stars & The Apocalypse‘ right after ‘Deathwestern‘ came out, when we got home from touring Europe with Agnostic Front.” However, it would seem that some of the lyrical inspiration came from a much different place, as he added, “I was revisiting a lot of ‘Bob Dylan‘ in my bunk on that tour and there is a nod to his song ‘Desolation Row‘ in the lyrics.”
Folsom also shared his thoughts on this new video for the song as well, offering, “I really love Gróf‘s work and I just turned him loose with the song. It’s a weird, spooky, animated trip through the underworld!”
While the band aren’t yet ready to the share the details, it certainly seems like a new album will be out in 2025.
