Soundgarden are set to return to the stage for an upcoming December 14th benefit show for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. The group will be appearing under their previously used anagram moniker, Nudedragons. Shaina Shepherd will front the group during what is being advertised as ‘a brief encore performance.’ Guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist/vocalist Ben Shepherd & drummer/vocalist Matt Cameron are expected to return to the stage for the abbreviated performance.
That set will take place at The Showbox in Seattle, WA. Speaking via social media today, December 04th, the following was offered by the Soundgarden camp:
“Nudedragons will be returning to the stage, and the Showbox, for the first time in 14+ years as part of the SMooCH benefit for Seattle Children’s Hospital on Saturday, December 14. Shaina Shepherd will be featured on vocals for their brief encore performance. For tickets and more info visit https://smoochforkids.com.
XOND!”
Back in April of 2010, Soundgarden performed their first live show in 13 years at the aforementioned venue, adopting the Nudedragons moniker for the set. Of course, in the years since then we’ve tragically lost the band’s vocalist/guitarist Chris Cornell. In further unfortunate news, protracted legal disputes over his final recordings with the band have continued to hamper the posthumous release of the material the band were working on prior to Cornell‘s death.
If you’re unfamiliar with Shepherd the below 2021 KEXP live performance is available for viewing:
