Rolling Stone have newly published their list of ‘The 100 Best Albums Of 2024’ and only one metal release made the cut. Coming in at #93 is “From Hell I Rise“, the solo debut album from Slayer guitarist Kerry King‘s eponymous new venture.
That group finds him teamed with current and former members of Slayer, Death Angel, Machine Head & HELLYEAH. Due to a lengthy gestation period and pandemic complications, there was considerable anticipation in the years leading up to the band’s reveal.
However, “From Hell I Rise” ultimately found itself somewhat overshadowed by the announcement of the surprise live return of Slayer themselves that was made just ahead of this album’s May release.
You can find the whole list of ‘The 100 Best Albums Of 2024’ over at Rollingstone.com. If you’re curious about who topped the list, Charli XCX‘s “Brat” took home #1, with Beyoncé‘s country album “Cowboy Carter” landing at #2 and MJ Lenderman‘s “Manning Fireworks” rounding out the top 3.
