Slipknot‘s ongoing 25th anniversary touring celebration of their 2x multi-platinum self-titled 1999 album recently found them reunited with a key figure in their history, producer/musician/label executive Ross Robinson. Known as ‘The godfather of nü-metal’, Robinson was instrumental to the rise of the aforementioned genre, producing early works from Korn, Limp Bizkit and more.
He of course also produced and mixed Slipknot‘s aforementioned ‘debut’ album, which arrived through Roadrunner Records under the banner of Robinson‘s I Am Recordings imprint label.
Outside of the merits of his visceral and unorthodox work behind the boards, it was Robinson who fronted the costs for the studio sessions that resulted in that crucial entry in the Slipknot catalog. This past weekend saw Slipknot roll through California and Arizona and amid those shows, the group caught up backstage with their former mentor or sorts.
Robinson posted the below picture of that reunion to his Instagram. Robinson and Slipknot‘s last full-fledged collaboration together was 2001’s platinum-certified “Iowa“, which Robinson produced.
