Jane’s Addiction‘s set last night (September 10th) at the The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City didn’t sit well with some of the fans in attendance. Various concertgoers who attended the set have expressed their disappointment and concern over the state of vocalist Perry Farrell at the show, who appeared to mumble and ramble throughout the night.

Some of those who caught the show have taken to social media in the hours since the concert, voicing their concerns that they hope Farrell seeks help, while others have put out calls for refunds. At one point during last night’s show, Farrell apologized to the crowd, stating:

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. Something’s wrong with my voice… Something’s going wrong. I can’t get my notes out.”

A brief look at the social media of the band and its members saw the following comments shared:

The multi-platinum alternative rockers have been out performing with their original lineup this spring/summer for the first time in nearly 15 years. While the group’s struggles with addiction have played a prominent role in their career, it is unclear whether last night’s performance was the result of illness, injury or potential intoxication. You can see for yourself in the below fan-filmed footage from the set.

Whatever the case, the band’s own bassist Eric Avery acknowledged the situation on his Instagram, stating today, September 11th:

“Looking forward to getting another crack at this spectacular rooftop venue tonight. I’m optimistic we will be better. #janesaddiction #pier17”
