Extol are a late addition to the impending final edition of the ‘Furnace Fest‘. The Norwegian progressive metal band will be playing an unspecified date of that event, which will be held at the Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, AL on October 04th-06th.
The group had previously been booked for last year’s edition but ran into visa issues. As with the ill-fated appearance at last year’s event, vocalist Peter Espevoll won’t be present. While Elisha Mullins (Fleshkiller, The Burial, etc.) had been secured in his place before last year’s plans fell through, this year will see Living Sacrifice vocalist/guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh front the band.
Organizers for the festival commented of this rare North American show from Extol, who haven’t played the United States in nearly 20 years:
“If you’ve been part of @furnace_fest_community you’ve surely heard the legendary ‘trash can wristband’ lore of 2023. Well, the story just took an epic twist! We’re thrilled to announce that EXTOL, featuring Bruce Fitzhugh of Living Sacrifice, is joining the Furnace Fest 2024 Sunday lineup! It wouldn’t be a proper celebration of the end of an era without bringing this story full circle ️
Yes, as of YESTERDAY, they FINALLY have VISAS IN HAND! Thank you to everyone that’s worked on this for the last year to help get these visas.
