Over the years it’s become somewhat common during Metallica‘s live performances that tribute is paid to hometown heroes of the cities which the thrash metal kings find themselves performing in. These tributes emerge via loose covers performed by the band’s guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist/vocalist Robert Trujillo, and are referred to internally by the group as ‘doodles’.
For the closing night of their two-date run at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL this past weekend, the aforementioned duo celebrated that city’s own platinum-certified industrial metal outfit Ministry. Hammett and Trujillo took on “Just One Fix“, the third single from Ministry‘s 1992 magnum opus, “Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed And The Way To Suck Eggs“.
Fan-filmed footage of their rendition from last night (August 11th) can be seen below, along with Ministry‘s response.
