Ex-Fear Factory vocalist Burton C. Bell has issued the second single from his eponymous new solo project. Below you can hear “Technical Exorcism” from the industrial metal vet, which finds members of Killing Joke (Paul Ferguson), All Hail the Yeti (Ryan Kittlitz), Aeges (Tony Baumeister) and more involved.

Jessie Sanchez directed the music video for the song, which has just launched online alongside it. That clip was filmed during the band’s debut live show at 1720 in Los Angeles, CA this past June.

Update: August 09th, 2024 12:15pm:

Per the lyrics available for this single via Genius, it would certainly seem that Bell‘s latest track is a direct shot at his time in Fear Factory and the years of infighting that led to his bitter 2020 departure from the gold-certified cyber metal group.

A legal battle that saw guitarist Dino Cazares become the de facto owner of the Fear Factory trademarks turned out to be the last straw for Bell, before his acrimonious exit from the band. The bitterness of that split soon spilled over into the press between Bell and Cazares. You can read on how that last court battle played out in this past interview from Cazares.

As for the lyrics to “Technical Exorcism“, read on:

[Intro]
“A journey that begins
Where everything ends”

[Verse 1]
I sold my soul
To a damn machine
Every judgement that left me numb
In poverty
Justice bled me
Fucking bled me
I cannot live with
All of this for nothing

[Verse 2]
Gaslight to control
All within your reach
A toxic cancer upon my life
Manipulating me
Truth is what you fear
Fucking liar
I cannot live with
All of this for nothing

[Chorus]
I sacrificed the fear from me
Now I am finally free
Free
I sacrificed the fear from me
Now I am finally free
See upcoming rock shows
Get tickets for your favorite artists

[Post-Chorus]
Dreams about dark bodies
Resurrection therapy
Soul from a dead machine
This is not the ?nd

[Bridge]
And at the end
Open your Eyes
Through all the pain
Suffer mine

[Verse 3]
Truth is what you fear
Fucking liar
I cannot live with
All of this shit for nothing

[Chorus]
I sacrificed the fear from me
Now I am finally free
Free
I sacrificed the fear from me
Now I am finally free

[Post-Chorus]
Dreams about dark bodies
Resurrection therapy
Soul from a dead machine
This is not the end (of me)”

Cazares was asked earlier today if he had intended to clapback at Bell over the track, to which he replied:
