Deftones performed live at the 2024 edition of this ongoing ‘Lollapalooza‘ yesterday, August 03rd at Grant Park in Chicago, IL. As with their warm-up show held at The Metro this past Thursday, August 01st, guitarist Stephen Carpenter was once again absent. Presumably he was still suffering from the same ‘sudden illness’ that prevented him from missing that warm-up show. On a note of interest, yesterday also marked Carpenter‘s 54th birthday.
In his place yesterday was the multi-platinum alternative metal group’s frequent live fill-in, Lance Jackman. He was joined on guitar on select tracks by Shaun Lopez, who performs alongside Deftones vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno in Crosses (†††) . Lopez also sat in on guitar with Deftones overseas this past May.
Yesterday’s set at the aforementioned annual festival was professionally-filmed and livestreamed via Hulu, with that footage having since appeared online. The setlist ran as follows:
