Few would dispute the claim that Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande is among the top of his class when it comes to his generation of metal drummers. The accomplished 33-year-old Brazilian percussionist, who previously performed with Sepultura, was recently given a weighty challenge though: learning Brann Dailor‘s drum parts to Mastodon‘s 2004 staple “Blood And Thunder” in as little time as possible.
Drumeo were behind this daunting task, having previously subjected Dream Theater‘s Mike Portnoy to what is perhaps an even more arduous endeavor. Below you can watch Casagrande attempt to lock in the numerous fills and complicated patterns featured within that track. There’s also a bonus for Mastodon fans to be found towards the end of the video.
