Performing in a band as demanding and progressive as The Mars Volta, one would expect the catalog of Canadian prog rock legends Rush to be a fundamental building block. However, it appears that the at least some of the work of the esteemed late Neil Peart has eluded drummer Linda-Philomène Tsoungui, who received a first introduction to the band’s 1981 single “Limelight” recently via Drumeo.
In the below video, Tsoungui was presented with a first listen to that song, albeit without the included percussive talents of Peart. Thus, Drumeo tasked Tsoungui with coming up with a drum track of their own to the song, you can watch that process unfold below.
