Oceans Of Slumber have released the title track to their next studio album “Where Gods Fear To Speak“. The Texan progressive doom metal band appear to be eyeing a September 13th release through Season Of Mist for that 10-song outing.
Drummer Dobber Beverly described this new effort as “dark cinematic metal”, stating, “We’ve taken the raw and heavier direction of our last two albums and elevated it to the scale of a blockbuster IMAX movie.”
That ‘cinematic’ angle mentioned above isn’t just hyperbole, with a press release stating, ‘The album’s concept blurs the ideological lines between ‘Dune‘, ‘Blade Runner‘ and ‘The Dark Tower‘, though its first single loops back to real life events.’
A music video was shot with Josh Vargas for this first offering from the record, and it is available below. Vocalist Cammie Beverly stated:
“I’ve always wanted to do death growls. ‘Where Gods Fear To Speak‘ presented the perfect opportunity. Mixing harsh vocals in with my cleans speaks to that tug of war between pleasure and pain, though there’s a freedom that comes with pushing my voice past its perceived breaking point.”
