In an interview with People, vocalist/bassist Gene Simmons commented that the sale felt like a “natural thing” to do. He later added, “If you take a look at Mother Nature, you either evolve or you become extinct.”
Original Story:
Having extensively cashed in on the band for five decades, KISS have now officially cashed out to the tune of over $300,000,000. The multi-platinum classic rock group, who hung it up with the conclusion of a farewell tour last December (the band will continue on as digital avatars), have apparently sold their catalog, master recordings and publishing rights, along with their name, image. and likenesses, to Pophouse Entertainment Group AB.
That same company is also overseeing the band’s upcoming digital reincarnation as digital avatars, having previously made a similar move with ABBA. Fortune reported on the sale, nothing the exact details were not publicly disclosed.
