Drummer Josh Freese will be returning to A Perfect Circle for a chunk of the band’s dates this spring. It will mark his first time in 13 years touring with that multi-platinum alternative rock outfit. Freese will be back behind the kit amid the group’s upcoming run with Primus and Puscifer, which is being held in celebration of the approaching 60th birthday of Maynard James Keenan.

Keenan of course fronts A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tool. That trek will see all three outfits performing unique collaborative sets together nightly. Freese, who joined Foo Fighters last year, will be back out with A Perfect Circle through to the April 20th show, after which he’ll head off to deal with Foo Fighters rehearsals and subsequent spring touring. Puscifer‘s Gunnar Olsen will be taking his place.

In a statement shared this afternoon, Freese stated:

Happy to report that for the first time in 13 years I’ll be going out with A Perfect Circle on the upcoming Sessanta tour. Due to my schedule with the Foo Fighters I’ll be having to jump off after the Hollywood Bowl on April 20. Gunnar from Puscifer will be filling in on the remaining dates (maybe a little Tim Alexander too?)

There’s a chance I’ll be able to show up to another gig or two after that if time allows but for now that’s the plan. A Perfect Circle has always been a very special band for me and I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing these songs again.”

Freese performed with the band from 1999 through to 2004 and later returned for a stint from 2010 to 2011. The dates for Maynard James Keenan‘s ‘Sessanta Tour‘ featuring A Perfect Circle, Primus and Puscifer include:
