Verona On Venus, the industrial metal-leaning new side project of DevilDriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer, have released a second single. See below for a stream on the song “Monarch Acid Test“.
The ‘band’s’ debut album “Popular Delusions“, will be released on January 19th. While Spreitzer handled the vocals and the bulk of the instrumentation himself, his former DevilDriver bandmate, Austin D’Amond (Chimaira, Bleed The Sky), was hired on for the studio drumming on that record.
Spreitzer had the following to share of this second offering from that album:
“This song is one of the heavier tracks on the album. My inspiration stemmed from Project Monarch which was an experiment within the infamous MK-Ultra program in the 1960s. I’ve always been fascinated with this part of history.
Project Monarch was an experiment within MK-Ultra and had to do with different levels of programming people, brainwashing, and psychological torture. I believe we all live within our own heads and thoughts to a certain level, and the theory of mind control by way of sinister conduct by a person or organization can be taken from the song’s lyrics.”
