Tool Release Elaborate 30th Anniversary Edition Of Their Debut Album "Undertow"

Tool‘s landmark 1993 debut album “Undertow” has been given a new 30th anniversary CD re-release—with a catch. Following up their debut EP “Opiate“, “Undertow” was a commercial breakthrough for the then mysterious alternative metal band, buoyed by its hit single “Sober“. That record was certified platinum by September of 1994 and has since attained 3x multi-platinum status in the United States as of April of 2021.

While the band’s now longtime bassist Justin Chancellor didn’t actually perform on that record (it was the group’s last with Paul D’Amour), it was Chancellor who was tasked with overseeing the art direction of the new packaging and visual overhaul of this celebratory edition of the album. As for the catch, for the time being it will only be available for purchase at the band’s ongoing fall tour and their recently announced early 2024 run. According to various fan reports, the band are charging $500 for the autographed edition of the set.
