In contrast to the five studio albums they issued last year, 2023 has been a creatively quiet year for Australian sonic explorers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The outfit released their thrash metal return in the form of “PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation” this past June and have newly announced its follow-up, “The Silver Cord“.
That outing—the band’s 25th full-length album overall—will be out on October 27th. It appears that the group will be veering back into from the synth-laden influences they previously explored on “Butterfly 3000” with this new outing, pre-orders for which will launch on October 12th.
Both a standard and extended edition of the album are planned, with the latter appearing to have expanded versions of each of the album’s 7 tracks.
