Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, The Black Queen, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) recently took on performing his 2022 collaboration with darksynth artist Carpenter Brut live for the first time. The pair of course previously teamed up on the track “Imaginary Fire” from Brut‘s “Leather Terror” album.
With their schedules having aligned, they got to share the stage together this past weekend at the annual ‘Hellfest Open Air‘ in Clisson, France. Fan-filmed footage of that has been shared below. Puciato himself also spoke of the experience:
“Lotta fun to bust this out with @carpenterbrut last night at @hellfestopenair for my third day in a row there. Fun and easy song to write and record…was fun but not easy to sing live. Realized about two thirds of the way through that there is never a moment where vocals aren’t happening once they start, at which point my inner “warning” light went off and I had to start being careful about really managing and being mindful of how much wind/air I was keeping in the tank.
When you haven’t done your reps on something by playing it a handful of times on tour, your body and lungs haven’t developed muscle memory for that particular track yet. Sometimes even an easier song technically can be a bit harder in reality if your body hasn’t developed automatic physical memory for it yet through repetition in the field. Thanks CB for the invite. Hope we end up in the same place at the same time again to do it again. Good to make a new friend @alexwestaway from @gunshipmusic too.”
