Veteran emo outfit Taking Back Sunday have newly scored their first platinum album. The Long Island, NY band’s 2002 debut album “Tell All Your Friends” was newly certified platinum in the United States yesterday, June 15th. It was previously certified gold back in September of 2005. Last May saw the group release an expanded 20th anniversary edition of that record.
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
