While it seemed that Mötley Crüe‘s ongoing reunion would be limited to live performances, that no longer appears to be the case. The band’s bassist/vocalist Nikki Sixx recently shared on social media that he and drummer/vocalist Tommy Lee have been in the studio writing new material for the outfit as of late.
Sixx made the following two tweets on the matter:

We are writing. The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band. We’re gonna go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor and see where it goes. We don’t have a definitive plan at this point.Just letting the songs guide us.

Word of potential new material from the multi-platinum glam metal legends will likely irk the band’s estranged guitarist Mick Mars. The latter musician stepped down from touring with the band last year. While he intended to remain onboard for any potential new music and select future live appearances, the band themselves considered him to have officially retired. As such an ugly legal battle has been playing out between the band and Mars.
The band themselves have since returned to the stage with John 5 in Mars‘ place. As you can see in the above picture, 5 has also been invited to these latest writing sessions.
