Multiplatinum West Coast funk rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers have seen the title track to their 1999 album “Californication” officially entered the 1 billion views club on YouTube. The official upload for the music video for that track has managed crossed that threshold, after having been uploaded some 13 years ago to the service.
That track itself was released as the fourth single from the aforementioned 7x multi-platinum album and stands as their second most streamed track of all-time behind “Under The Bridge“. As a single, “Californication” was certified 5x multi-platinum by the RIAA back in September of 2021.
If you’re not aware, the fictitious video game featured in the video actually unofficially became a reality some 20-plus years later thanks to an enterprising fan. Earlier today (December 05th) the band announced a new round of North American and European touring.
