Matt Healy, the vocalist/guitarist of multi-platinum pop rock outfit The 1975, is no fan of metal’s reigning champs Metallica. Healy voiced his opinion on the Bay Area metal institution in a recent interview with Pitchfork. His response came about amid the discussion shifting towards the resurgence the latter thrash metal band and British art pop singer Kate Bush had after being featured in the latest season of ‘Stranger Things‘ this past summer.
While Healy voiced his support for Bush, he had no love for the leaders of the Big Tour, offering: “I fucking hate Metallica. My worst band of all time.” As noted by Metal Hammer, Healy isn’t adverse to heavier music, having labeled Refused as his “favorite heavy metal band of all time” in the past, while also citing Converge, Glassjaw and Poison The Well among his favs.
