Red Hot Chili Peppers Score Over A Dozen New Platinum & Gold Certifications In The United States

Following the recent certifications of three tracks from “Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have newly been awarded over a dozen more certifications in the United States by the RIAA.

Among the newly awarded certifications are:

  • Dani California” (5x multi-platinum)
  • Scar Tissue” (4x multi-platinum)
  • Can’t Stop” (3x multi-platinum)
  • The Getaway” (album) (gold)
  • Otherside” (3x multi-platinum)
  • Snow (Hey Oh)” (4x multi-platinum)
  • Dark Necessities” (platinum)
  • The Zephyr Song” (gold)
  • The Adventures Of Raindance Maggie” (platinum)
  • Around The World” (gold)
  • Tell Me Baby” (gold)
  • Californication” (album) (7x multi-platinum)
  • Stadium Arcadium” (album) (4x multi-platinum)
  • Californication” (5x multi-platinum)

This past spring it was reported that the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the process of selling the rights to their catalog to the Hipgnosis Songs Fund in deal that was expected to fetch upwards of $140 million.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
